MSc. in IITs via JAM-2014

We know the IITs  are mostly preferable of Engineering courses. But the IITs found the necessity of research in sciences also and made availability the programs  in MSc., Joint MSc.,-PhD., MSc., PhD-dual degree and post Bachelor degree.  In this aspect the IISP., Bengaluru offers the Integrated PhD course.  Admissions will be made through the ‘Joint Admission Test for MSc(JAM) every year.  JAM, 2014 will be conducted by IIT, Kanpur this year.  The details are as follows:

Eligibility :

For admission into IISC- Bengaluru the candidates  should have pass with  60%  of marks  to the category of   General and BCs   and  50% of marks for STs and SCs  in respective subjects in  bachelor degree.For admission into IITs  the candidates should have pass bachelor degree with 55% of marks for  General and OBCs  and 50% of marks for SC, ST and PHC.The candidates of final year degree are also eligible to apply for the above courses.

Pattern of Question Paper:

The Question Papers of Biological Sciences, Bio-Technology, Computer Applications  will be in objective type.  Negative marks will be 1/3 for each wrong answer.  The answers should be marked only on ‘ Objective Response Sheet’ (ORS).  Remaining papers will be in the form of objective and descriptive.   The questions will be  20%  objective type,  30% fill in the blanks and 50% descriptive. These should be  written in ‘Question-cum- answer  booklet’ only.  Answers for descriptive questions  should be written on the allotted space only. Negative marks will be for wrong answers of multiple choice questions only.  1/2 mark  will be deducted for every wrong answer.   Question papers of all subjects will be in English only.  Any candidate should not be allowed to apply for  more than two subjects.


Category wise, subject wise  merit list will be notified basing on the marks secured in written examination.  Admissions will be  basing on the merit list.  Along with the score of JAM, interviews also will be conducted for admission into IISP, Bengaluru Integrated PhD,  IIT, Mumbai MSc., PhD dual degree, IIT Kanpur MSc., PhD dual degree (Physics).
